As I already mentioned, the device is based on my Data Logger project. The only customization is the sensor, and it's as simple as it gets - a single photoresistor: The photoresistor is mounted in a contraption made from PVC pipe and connects to the data logger through a five foot cable. The pipe diameter happens to fit perfectly in an old Tasco refractor telescope tube - this lets me point it very accurately at remote objects, like one palm about 200 feet from our patio: The whole thing relies on an ancient Linux laptop to store the data. Here is everything hooked up and recoding the movement of the palm: You can playback the recording on the main page or check the Data Logger project to see the schematics and software for the data logger. |
